Thinking about marketing your products or services overseas? Already doing business with Spanish speaking countries? Whether you need marketing materials, technical manuals or a foreign language Web Site, don't underestimate the importance of a professional translation service... and don't underestimate the importance of budgeting for this service!

International marketing (as well as any venture into foreign markets) requires flexibility. Demographics change quickly, consumer trends swing. Those that can respond to dynamic consumer needs quickly, easily and professionally are the ones that have the greatest chance to succeed. If you lose time trying to get approvals for translations at the last minute, you may not get the best possible pricing... and you may have to spend time justifying the unbudgeted expenditure to others.

There are various ways you can reduce the costs associated with hiring a professional translation service. First, gather materials from all departments that may need translation services now and in the near future. You can get a better price for a "package deal" than for individual materials that are translated sporadically.

If it is difficult to determine which materials will need to be translated, start with sales literature, legal contracts, product updates then add anything else that may come to mind. If you provide technical support for your clients, you probably have training or technical manuals, too. Those have specific requirements, are more time consuming to translate and, therefore, need cost effective translation schedules. Get a quote for those, too... just in case. Otherwise, they can throw any budget off balance just like that!

In addition, as you know, many international corporations require that proposals be translated into the native language of the marketplace. Clearly, by incorporating translation services into your budget, you give your company a competitive edge in a very dynamic and global marketplace!
